Welcome to the Hidden Almanac, I’m Reverend Mord.

Today is November 4th, 2015.

PD: Hi, everybody! I’m Pastor Drom!

RM: Came out of the basement, I see.

PD: Well, once I was sure that Corvus-Wrax wasn’t going to break through again, I figured I’d come out. Also, I was running out of toilet paper.

RM: Information I neither requested nor desired.

PD: Also, it’s very isolating nailing yourself into a room, you know? I mean, I could hear you doing the show up here, but my wi-fi was really spotty. And you sing in the shower.

RM: I do not.

PD: The hell you don’t. It comes through the pipes.

RM: You must be mistaking my voice for someone else.

PD: Do you let a lot of random people shower at the station Mord? Because I’m going to have to put a stop to that. It’s a liability issue. The occasional motorist who’s stranded and knows that the motel down the road is run by a serial killer, sure. It’s only polite. But not a whole bunch of people. If one of them trips in the shower and sues, I don’t have another spare million to cover it.

RM: The motel down the road is not run by a serial killer. He has a healthy appreciation of taxidermy, that is all.

PD: Everybody likes taxidermy, Mord! It’s not that. All his stuffed deer have their eyes closed and they’re grinning. It’s just weird. You know he’s got bodies in the crawlspace.

RM: He gave me a dahlia for the garden. It was his mother’s.

PD: Gardening does not make one a nice person, Mord.

RM: I am certain that it helps.

It is the Feast Day of Saint Christobel, patron of both the tattooed and tattoo removal. The story goes that Christobel brought supplies to a monastery under siege by way of a secret route through the Mountain Kingdom. There was only one map, tattooed on Christobel’s forearm. The monastery held out for forty days until Christobel was captured. She prayed for a miracle, and the tattoo vanished before the eyes of her captors. She was then horribly martyred, (PD: uhhhn) but the monastery withstood the siege and she was buried in the crypt there.(PD: Always with the martyring.)

In the garden, the Season of Mold continues. The sweet flag has gone brown, and the chickweed is running rampant. Few fall bulbs are willing to brave the rain long enough to flower. However, the new seed catalogs are due soon, and this is anticipation enough for any gardener.

The Hidden Almanac is brought to you by Red Wombat Tea Company, purveyors of fine and inaccessible teas. Red Wombat --- “We Dig Tea.”

Also brought to you by Rasmussen Mold Removers! Season of Mold got you overgrown? Conventional scrubbing not doing the job? We’ll power that mold off you and your house! No pets.

That’s the Hidden Almanac for November 4th, 2015. Be safe, and stay out of trouble.
