December 14 is the Feast Day of Saint Caleb, patron of playwrights, who supposedly wrote many passion plays in the thirteenth century, bringing the narratives of faith to a largely illiterate populace. Very little is known about St. Caleb and he may, in fact, be a composite of multiple playwrights working throughout the era. The most notable use of his icon today is in the Calledean Drama Repository. An open-source script collection stored online which preserves many drama scripts either not under copyright or stored with permission of the writer. The scripts include recording and transcriptions of a great many traditional indigenous performances that might otherwise be lost. This non-profit makes them available free of charge to anyone who wishes to access them.
