February 5 is the Feast Day of the twin saints, St. Iris, patron of the rainbow, and St. Forlox, patron of thundersnow. These two saints rarely appear in the sky at the same time, and legend has it that they were separated long ago by the devil, to prevent their excessive goodness from spoiling his dinner. They are represented in diptychs as a man and woman clothed in rainbows, with snow and lightning behind them, reaching toward one another, but never appear together in the same panel.
